How to Create a Positive Change
You can change the world with small meaningful actions. You get to choose what those actions are. You may not see the change you’re making because it’s such a small shift. That doesn't mean that you're not invoking change.
When I completed my yoga teacher training in 2014 I got hired to teach a beginner level class once a week. It was a mid-day class, so I usually got folks on their lunch break that would hustle in and hustle out. Those that came regularly I got to know bit by bit. There was one woman, Rebecca, that I felt a connection with. She was a regular in my class and I loved the energy that she brought. At some point though, she stopped coming and I didn't see her again for a long time.
A few years later I was walking through the yoga studio and there was a teacher training program in session. They were just taking a break and who should walk out of the room? Rebecca! I was surprised and delighted to see her; it'd been years! Then she shared with me that 100% of why she signed up for teacher training was because of me. She had taken her first ever yoga class with me and the way I taught and connected with her had such a profound impact that she wanted to learn how to teach yoga too. My heart swelled with pride and happiness.
Just think if I hadn't run into her I never would have known how much I influenced her!!
I love teaching yoga and I feel all the warm fuzzies knowing that I have a positive impact on the humans in the room even if I never know how far that impact goes.
When you help someone that you never see again, you don't know whether that person is good just for that moment or if your action influenced them for the rest of their life. Don't let the unknown stop you, make this world better, especially if you can't see it.
