What it Means to Be Vulnerable

Quote on purple background with orange border. "Change your thoughts, and you change your world." by Norman Vincent Peale

I used to be in the camp of super negativity where I would say no to every little thing.

That meant I missed out on a lot of life. Especially in my twenties and thirties, there were so many fun things that I didn't do because I was too scared to even try. My thoughts kept me stuck in fear, scarcity, and doubt.

It wasn't until I started working on me and unpacking who I really am that I started to see a difference in the number of things I could say yes to.

And I don't mean saying yes in the sense of overextending myself and giving away all of my energy to other people because I'm totally guilty of that too. When I say yes in this instance I mean as in saying yes to hanging out with a friend, going to a party, or going to a new restaurant/venue I'd never been to before. Those were the things I used to say no to all the freaking time.

It makes me sad looking back and realizing that folks stopped inviting me to things because I always said no.

I made such a big deal about tiny things that it wasn't worth the effort to include me.

It really sucks to realize that. I was the Debbie Downer. I was the pessimistic killing your buzz kind of friend and those aren't the friends that you want to hang out with when you're trying to have a good time.

It feels like a relief to confess this to you here. It really honestly does.

My whole body feels lighter, energized, and like I just let go of the biggest burden that's been holding me back.
