Balance with Yoga and Journaling
It's okay to feel sad, unhappy, depressed, anxious, or fearful because those feelings are balanced by joy, happiness, elation, understanding, and contentment.
The challenge is if you’re not finding that balance, you can feel unsteady and unsure.
We need balance in our lives in so many ways.
Our muscles balance each other out in our bodies, where one side shortens and the other side lengthens so that we can walk, jump, even sit still. When I teach bicep curls in my yoga sculpt classes, your biceps are the things that shorten, contract, and do all the work on the curl-up and then your triceps take over on the way down so that you don't suddenly drop the weight on your toes.
It's important to have both of those muscles working so that your whole body is balanced, protected, and you don't go home with a broken toe.
We need balance among our friends. It's important to have folks that make you laugh, can listen for hours, and can push you when you need that push to either get out of bed or try something new. Sometimes you need that crazy party friend because they're the only one that's going to get you to go out when you're exhausted and you know you need some human contact.
If all of your friends are introverts you might find you feel stuck at home.
And I'm not saying that being at home is a bad thing, I love being a hermit, just not all the time. So when I want to go out I've got friends that I call and when I want to snuggle in and watch a movie I've got my husband and my kid. A balance is important.
For me yoga is what balances out my anxiety and helped me work through depression more than once. When I add journaling to the mix that's when I start to feel unstoppable because whatever comes up for me I know I can work through it.
Those two things (yoga + journaling) are my secret sauce to balance.
What balances you?
If you’re wanting some of my secret sauce to balance, I've got just the thing.
On the last Sunday of the month I offer CommuniTea Yoga where we do the yoga and we do the journaling together in a safe space that's made especially for introverts.
If you’re curious what it’s all about, click here and join us. Get a day pass if you just want to try it out one time or you can get a monthly membership and join me for yoga and journaling once a month. (Psst if you’re already a CommuniTea member, then CommuniTea Yoga is included in your CommuniTea membership 🙌🏻).
I want something different for next year. I’m not one for setting resolutions, I gave up on them years ago, I don’t really see the point of trying to make a change that won’t stick.
